Life Groups

About Life Groups:

Life groups at Convergence are smaller sized mid-week gatherings that meet in members’ homes.  To get connected with a group, you can contact individual life group leaders and request more information.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:24-25

Vision: Holiness. Many interpret holiness purely from a moral perspective, but it also encompasses a life that is growing closer to God.  We make holiness the overarching vision for life groups because it is the greatest commandment (love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength).  We value growing deeper in relationship because it is necessary for us to grow in our relationship with God.

Purpose: We gather in groups with a shared mission to pursue God, to love one another, and to serve others (surrounding community, city, region, and world).

Why Life Groups: As individuals, left in an individual context, we have a tendency to think much about ourselves.  Community forces us to consider others and moves the focus and attention away from ourselves, or at a minimum, illuminates how much we think of ourselves. It also moves us away from constantly living out of our own desires and limitations by allowing us to consider others interests as well as our own.

Community also gives us a greater picture of God; as C.S. Lewis notes, “By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity. I want other lights than my own to show all his facets.”  In essence, we need one another to have a more whole view of God.

We currently have five Life Groups.

Life Groups 2017!

Starting on September 17th, all Life Groups will be taking part in the Immerse bible reading experience.  We’ll be reading through the first volume which includes the entire New Testament, reformatted without headings, chapter and verse numbers, and then grouped for better continuity. Our sermons will also draw from the previous week’s reading.

How long is this reading plan? 8 weeks.

Whoa, that’s it? How much are we reading everyday? 20-30 minutes per day, 5 days per week.

How do I get my hands on one of these fancy bibles? We will provide them for the first 30 people who sign up for groups and they’re also available for purchase at www.immersebible.com/messiah (eBook and soft copies are ~$13 and audio is free).

What are Immerse groups? These groups meet weekly to talk and reflect on the reading together. The discussions each week are structured like a book club with provided questions to share openly about the readings.

How do I join a group and can I attend more than one? Email any of the groups you’re interested in. Also please feel free to visit different groups to find what works for you, or even visit another group if you missed your regular group on a given week!
