Sunday Service
Come as you are!!! We value authenticity and believe that you should come before the Lord as you are. We don’t expect or want perfect people. We want honest people. So, come as you are. Wear what you want. If you have a Bible, bring it. If you don’t, we’ll give you one!
Our Sunday Services are located at DeFremery Park, located at 1651 Adeline St, Oakland, CA, on Sundays at 10:30am. We meet for prayer at 9:30am, led by Joe Nuni and Yvonne Thompson.
“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” – Isaiah 55:1
What to Expect…
When you walk in the doors you’ll be greeted by someone who can fill you in on where everything is and introduce you to people. If you have children, they can also show you where KidsTown meets. You can check out our information table to learn more about the latest happenings at Convergence.
We have delicious snacks and refreshments where you can grab a bite and mingle with others before service.
We’ll begin our gathering with a few songs of worship. Why do we sing? Singing unlocks emotion and feelings deep within us and enables us to express our gratitude and joy as well as our pain and lament before God. This is not “American Idol”, this is our time of worshiping God, so we encourage you to be free and sing out!
After a few songs, we’ll pray. The our presider will welcome everyone, share a few church-wide announcements and then free us up to meet people. We value this time and give some time for it. We hope you take advantage of it and meet someone you don’t know and get to know them better.
We’ll then take our seats and hear a sermon from Bobby or another pastor. The gospel is preached with relevant stories so that people can understand their faith in contemporary, everyday life.
Following the sermon, ushers will come forward to receive the offering. This is one aspect of our worship. If you are visiting for the first time, we don’t expect you to give and you can let the bag pass. If you do feel inclined to give, however, feel free.
We’ll then close with a couple songs of worship and a benediction (closing prayer).
On the second and fourth Sundays we partake in communion during our service as well.
We hope you take the opportunity to join us in worship! You are always welcome!!!
KidsTown
KidsTown is a fun, welcoming, and safe space for kids ages 3 to 12. Every Sunday, we gather to experience and learn about God’s word, promises, and love for His people. A typical Sunday class is centered around worshipping and celebrating God through a dynamic mix of music/dance, stories, crafts, skits, and games. Our hope is to be a thriving, gospel-centered ministry where any child – regardless of background and beliefs feel welcomed. We hope to see your kids join us every week starting at 10:30am (KidsTown is held during the main worship service)!
Monthly Potluck
On the first Sunday of every month we have a potluck that takes place right after our service. If you’re new, don’t worry about bringing anything. We always plan for more people. This is a great time to relax, meet people, and enjoy some great food.
Every potluck has a theme to it and there’s a competition for the best dish according to the theme. What’s the prize you might ask? A UFC (Ultimate Food Champion) belt that you can take home for a month! So bring it if you want to win it! Be sure to check out the weekly announcements for information on the upcoming potluck.
